In January, I made a first-time attempt at an Olympic sport. After talking about it for nearly two years, I finally went Curling! Yes, the sport invited by drunken Scots and now mocked by many, random, I know :) One Friday night, Laura, Brandi, Brent & I trekked to the Utah Olympic Oval for a lesson in the same place (and using the same stones) as the 2002 Olympians. Our "how hard can it really be?" attitude quickly changed as we put a slick shoe on one foot & attempted to lunge into a slide then release the stone across the ice. Much harder than anticipated! And running while sweeping? Let's just say it was a good thing we were all beginners together! Two hours later, I had a new respect for the sport (and an interest in watching a few matches on TV...really).Just for the record, I did not fall while running on the ice, but I definitly did not discover a new talent either! Brent, however, was a natural, which saved him from Yoga class...for now ;)
