December Craziness

So, I think December is crazy for almost every events planner. I had 3 holiday events, but my insanity mostly came from finals, volunteer events, and the 3 events I had to have ready for the 2 weeks of January…
The first Saturday in December, just back from Thanksgiving & Nashville, I woke up early to a wonderful world of snow outside. A perfect day to unpack & enjoy the snow with a hot cup of cocoa. Instead, I scraped 8 inches of snow off of my car & braved the trip to downtown SLC to set up for Ballet West's annual gala. Thank heavens for 4-wheel drive! After set up, I carefully drove back to my house & had a couple of hours to get ready for the formal evening. Just as I got my hair dry & curlers heated up, the power went out - yikes! I threw in curlers, gathered everything I needed to get ready & was headed out the door to get ready someplace else, when suddenly it came back on. I did end up there on time & it turned out to be a very fun evening & a lovely event. I'm holding a similar event at the same hotel in June, so this was a very helpful, though inconvenient, volunteer experience… The part at midnight where I slipped on ice in the parking lot, scraped my knee & ripped my new nylons was not as helpful! :)
The next weekend we had snow again, but this time I had a great day shopping & feeling the Christmas Spirit!
Also in December -
--My cousin Blaine left for the MTC. He'll be headed out to Armenia in a couple of months, a very interesting country where he may only have power for 2 hours per day. He'll be a great missionary & I am excited to hear his stories!!
--An introduction to Xanadu, a movie I somehow missed in my childhood. Great music, cheesy script, 80's special effects, an entertaining step back in time. :)
--Holiday events, more shopping, decorations, singing Christmas songs, a couple trips to Park City… etc etc etc...
